Boosting Brain Health and Memory

This 6 week in-person program at Storefront Humber is aimed at supporting older adults in learning ways to boost overall brain health and memory. Each session will include an educational presentation and an interactive workshop to practice memory strategies in a supportive environment.

Childbirth Education

A 5-week virtual program for all soon-to-be moms and partners. This program provides information and skills needed for a positive pregnancy, delivery, and early parenting experiences. Topics include: healthy pregnancy, nutrition, labor and delivery, relaxation techniques, preparing for the hospital, bringing baby home, basic baby care, and much more.

Family Fun

This weekly drop-in program is for families with children under the age of six. Activities and circle time are designed to promote child development, social skill building and school preparedness. The program also offers parenting support and information about community resources.

GLAD

Good Living with Arthritis Denmark (GLA:D®) will help you manage the symptoms from your hip or knee osteoarthritis (OA). The GLA:D program has shown to help people with hip and knee OA reduce pain and stiffness become more physical activity. The GLA:D® program includes 12 exercise sessions. The exercise sessions are offered 2 times per week over 6 to 8 weeks in-person or virtual. The program also includes 2 educational session. The GLA:D® program is being made available free of charge to patients who have attended an assessment for hip and knee problems with a physiotherapist at a Rapid Assessment Clinic, Family Health Team or a Community Health Centre in the Toronto Central area.

Join us for a tour of your local grocery store! Learn about making healthy food choices while sticking to a budget. You will also learn how to read and understand food labels.

Healthy Child Screening

These screening clinics for children ages 2 to 6 are designed to identify any child development needs or concerns. Through a follow-up process referrals are made and families are linked to needed resources and supports. The screenings are staffed by Social Workers, Speech and Language Pathologists, Registered Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Dietitians, Audiologists, Optometrists, Dental Hygienists, Community Health Workers and Settlement Workers.

Healthy Parents Healthy Babies (babies 6 - 12 months)

This weekly in-person or virtual program is for pregnant women and women with new babies who are isolated, new to Canada or have financial difficulties. Enjoy weekly presentations about child safety, child development, breastfeeding, baby care, nutrition, cooking and more. The program is staffed by a Registered Nurse, Registered Dietitian and Community Health Worker, and is designed to support women through pregnancy as well as baby’s first year.

Kids Can Create

This 4-week in-person program is for children 4 to 7 years old. If you are interested in having your little ones learn how foods grow, make yummy recipes, and enjoy their delicious creations, this is the program! Children will meet new friends and enhance fine motor skills with crafts and activities.

Long COVID

Join us for an 8-week virtual Long Covid Group. This group is a self-help supportive and compassionate environment aided by health care providers and your peers regarding lingering symptoms from a Covid-19 infection. Group education on various health topics will be provided, including managing fatigue, coping with mental health implications, tips for returning to your everyday activity, breathing techniques, exercise and relaxation strategies. This group will be facilitated by a Therapist and an Occupational therapist using ZOOM.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

This 8-week in-person or virtual program is based on mindfulness exercises, to help develop capacity and awareness to be fully present in our lives by learning practical skills to manage stress. There will be weekly homework to assist you with your home practice. This program is for adults experiencing chronic conditions/stress.

This virtual program is based on mindfulness practices, to help develop capacity and awareness to be fully present in our lives by continually using practical skills to increase coping. There will be weekly homework to assist you with your home practice. This workshop is for adults experiencing chronic conditions/stress; a minimum familiarity with mindfulness is strongly recommended.

Time Out

Sometimes parents need time out! Looking for a place where you can focus on yourself, learn new skills and explore your interests? You can find it at Time Out, a weekly virtual drop-in program for parents and parents-to-be ages 29 and under. Join us to share a meal, swap stories and take part in workshops on topics such as sexual health, parenting, life skills, mental wellness and self-care - while your little ones enjoy their own programming.

West Toronto Housing Help

Meet with a housing worker who can assist with housing issues, evictions, finding emergency shelter, and accessing subsidized housing via telephone and email only. We will not be scheduling any face-to-face meetings with clients during this time and discourage people from visiting our office.
